LEGAL

Terms of Service

The rules of the road for using Summit. Written in plain English. No legalese where we can avoid it.

01

The short version

By using Summit, you agree to these terms. We've kept them short and written them like humans. If something here does not work for you, email us. We are reasonable people.

Summit is a voice-first standup tool for teams. You use it to record, share, and review voice updates with your colleagues. These terms govern that use.

02

Accounts and eligibility

To use Summit, you need to create an account. Here is what that means:

  • ·You must be 16 or older to use Summit.
  • ·You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • ·One person, one account. Do not share your credentials.
  • ·You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
  • ·If you believe your account has been compromised, email us at security@summit.app immediately.
03

Acceptable use

Summit is for legitimate team standups. Do not use it to:

  • ·Record or share audio of people without their knowledge or consent.
  • ·Harass, abuse, or threaten other users.
  • ·Upload content that violates any law or third-party rights.
  • ·Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse our API.
  • ·Use automated systems to create accounts or post standups at scale.
  • ·Spam team members with recordings.

Violating these rules may result in immediate account termination without refund.

04

Your data, your content

You own your content. When you record a standup on Summit, the audio and transcript belong to you and your team, not to us.

  • ·You grant Summit a limited license to store, process, and display your recordings to your team members. Nothing more.
  • ·We do not use your recordings to train AI models or sell them to third parties.
  • ·Team admins can access all recordings posted to their team.
  • ·You can delete your recordings at any time. Deletion is permanent.
  • ·If you delete your account, your content is deleted within 30 days.

Your team's data stays on Summit's servers and is not shared with other teams or organizations.

05

Teams and admins

Summit is a team product. Here is how team roles work:

  • ·The person who creates a team is the admin.
  • ·Admins can invite and remove members, edit team settings, and view all recordings.
  • ·Admins are responsible for their team's use of Summit and compliance with these terms.
  • ·Members can record standups, listen to team recordings, and leave teams.
  • ·If an admin removes you from a team, you lose access to that team's recordings immediately.
06

Billing and cancellation

Summit is free during early access. When we introduce paid plans, here is how it will work:

  • ·Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually.
  • ·You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
  • ·We do not offer refunds for partial months, except where required by law.
  • ·If payment fails, your account will be downgraded to free tier after a 7-day grace period.

During early access, Summit is free with no credit card required.

07

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete Account. We will delete your data within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We will try to give you notice first, except in cases of serious violations like illegal activity or security threats.

  • ·If we terminate your account, you lose access immediately.
  • ·You can appeal a termination by emailing support@summit.app.
  • ·If your team is deleted, all team recordings are deleted within 30 days.
08

Liability and warranties

Summit is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it running, but we cannot guarantee uptime or that it will meet every use case.

  • ·We are not liable for lost recordings due to user error or account deletion.
  • ·We are not liable for downtime that causes missed standups.
  • ·Our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.
  • ·We make no warranty that Summit will be error-free or uninterrupted.

None of this affects your statutory rights where applicable.

09

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of Summit after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree, you can cancel your account before the changes take effect.
